Annual three day street photography festival in the heart of Oslo.
- When? June 5-7.
- Where? MESH Youngstorget
- Three days of inspiring talks from accomplished photographers, photo awards with great prizes, workshops and a free photowalk through the summery streets of Oslo.
Inspirational content
When we book our speakers, we take great care to curate a programme that contains variety. After all you come to events like these to be inspired and learn something — hopefully leaving with a drive to try something new. Otherwise you could just keep scrolling Instagram. We keep a portion of the programme relatively strictly focused on street photography, but we always aim to also include something you didn’t know you needed.
The nicest, most international photo community in the nordics
Norway is a small country, but Oslo SPC is a surprisingly large, diverse, and international community. We pride ourselves in being inclusive and welcoming, which we think our member meet-ups and two prior festivals have proven. Come and see for yourself!
A fair photo contest with great prizes
Many photography competitions worldwide have a bad reputation for being cash cows. We still believe in the importance of providing an arena for highlighting the best that comes from the global street photography community. We make participation simple, cheap and judging transparent.
This year we separate colour from B&W work, both to judge apples to apples and also to be able to give out more prizes! And even if you don’t make the six podium places, you might still be exhibited at the festival and online if you make the finals.
Workshops
The main programme runs on Friday and Saturday. Sundays we set aside for workshops and a (free) photowalk. We have two workshops this year. These are events paid separately from the main festival ticket with limited seats available. They give you plenty of 1-on-1 time with your mentor and a real chance to dive deep into new learnings and habits.
Post Processing Masterclass
Oslo SPC board member Øyvind Nordhagen is a quality obsessed street and documentary photographer who has spent years picking every part of Adobe Lightroom apart. He knows how to edit every conceivable image and teaches a philosophical approach to post processing that is purely based on what the image communicates. The course material will be using examples in Adobe Lightroom, but the principles apply to all other software our there.
The masterclass duration is 4 hours with breaks and it is held at the OSPF venue.
Street walk workshop (TBA)
It is also tradition to host an outdoor workshop with one of our top speakers. Last year Dawn Eagleton showed 15 participants how they too could learn to make portraits of strangers through café windows like she has become famous for.
This year’s street walk workshop will be announced at a later date.
Photowalk (free)
In addition to the paid workshops we like to provide something to prolong the community experience with us for everyone on Sunday. The Oslo SPC board members will plan a route through Oslo, showing you the sites and some good spots along the way.
Afterparty
When the festival venue closes at 23:00 on Saturday, there will be tables reserved for us nearby to continue the conversation with speakers and new friends.
